If you're running a departmental Asterisk service, it's a good time to move to UBC IT's voice system. UBC IT is making exciting changes to central voice services this year, introducing a new voice mail system providing:
- Unified Messaging
- Auto Attendants with voice recognition
- Traditional voice mail services
Breaking Up Can Be Hard to Do

Change can be difficult, and to help kick start the process, UBC IT will migrate 50 individual users off of departmental Asterisk services to the UBC Voice Service without any increase to your current phone charges (with some conditions). And by migrating to central voice services, subscribers will have:
- A DID (phone number) reachable from off-campus
- On-campus 5-digit dialling
- Enterprise-grade reliability
- E911
- Access to Unified Communications, as we roll out components (such as Unified Messaging)

The Fine Print: UBC IT will perform a needs assessment based on the used Asterisk features, and may implement a solution using TDM, VoIP or a combination of TDM and VoIP infrastructure. If ACDs or Auto Attendants have been deployed, cost recovery charges may occur for multiline phone set rentals, additional lines, or application programming.
