Outlook 2000 has different set-ups, dependent on how your program was originally installed. If you cannot find the option "Services" under "Tools" please follow the instructions for Outlook Express.
- Open Outlook 2000
- Go to Tools / Services
- Select Add
- Double-click Microsoft LDAP Directory
- Complete the screen as shown below.
- In Directory Service Account enter: UBC LDAP
- In Server Hostname enter: ldap.ubc.ca
- In Server Port Number enter: 389
- In Server Search Timeout enter: 60
- In Search Base enter: ou=People,o=ubc.ca
- Select Apply / OK
- A message will come up advising you need to exit and re-enter Outlook for the directory to work
After you re-open Outlook, test your directory setup by looking someone up. There are two ways to look people up:
Method A- Select Address Book
- Under Show Names scroll and select LDAP Directory on ldap.ubc.ca
- Select Tools / Find or the Find icon.
- Enter the name of the person you are looking for and the results will pop up on the list. Double-clicking on the person's name brings up all the details.
- Open a new message
- Select To or Cc
- On the right hand side scroll and select LDAP Directory on ldap.ubc.ca
- Select Find on the bottom right.
- Enter the name of the person you are looking for and the results will be added to your LDAP list
- Select the person on the list and click Properties to see the details.
Note: Outlook will keep adding all the people you look for to the LDAP list of people on your computer, but when you close Outlook all names will be cleared from the list.
