Introduction
This document will focus on how to setup your Pocket PC 2002 to connect to the UBC Wireless
network. Right out of the box, the Pocket PC 2002 has its own built-in Microsoft VPN Client for
connecting your Pocket PC to a VPN running only on a Windows NT or Windows 2000 server. Due to
this limitation, you will not be able to use the native Pocket PC VPN Client to connect to the
UBC network. Instead, you will have to log in via the Wireless login webpage.
While there are several makes and models of Pocket PC Handhelds currently in the market, we
will be documenting how to connect a Toshiba e740 handheld using the Movian VPN Client to the
wireless network. The setup for all other types of Pocket PC Handhelds should be virtually the
same.
Configuration
If you are setting up a Toshiba Pocket PC Handheld Device, you may first have to turn on the
Wireless LAN module.
To enable the Wireless LAN module, turn the Wireless Communication Switch on (The default
setting is Off. Slide the switch to the left to turn the power On).
