- Open Outlook Express
- Go to Tools / Accounts
- Select the tab Directory Services
- Click Add / Directory Services
- Follow the setup procedures adding the server name to the first screen, as shown below.
- Click Next to the end and then select Finish.
- Select the ldap.ubc.ca directory you just created
- Select Properties
- Select the Generaltab
- In Directory Service Account enter: UBC LDAP
- In Server name enter: ldap.ubc.ca
- Select the Advancedtab
- In Directory Service (LDAP) enter: 389
- In Maximum number of matches to return enter: 100
- In Search base enter: ou=people,o=ubc.ca
- Select Apply / OK
- Select Close
Test your setup by looking someone up on the directory. There are two ways of looking people up:
Method A- Select Addresses
- Select the Find People icon.
- Enter the name you are looking for and select Find Now
- Select a person from the results and double-click to get more details
- Open a new message
- Select To or Cc
- Enter the name of the person under Type name or select from list / Find
- Enter the name you are looking for and select Find Now
- Select a person from the results and double-click to get more details
- You can add the person to the e-mail using the To, Cc and Bc commands on the bottom right of the screen
