Mathematical and Statistical Software

UBC IT offers the following mathematical and statistical software products:

  • Matlab

    Available to faculty and staff. MATLAB is a language for technical computing that combines numeric computation, advanced graphics and visualization, and a high-level programming language. MATLAB is the natural environment for analysis, algorithm prototyping, and application development. It is available for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux platforms.

  • SAS

    Available to staff, faculty, and students at both campuses. SAS is a software suite of products for business intelligence, business analytics, data warehousing, and data mining used to gather, manage, and analyze large amounts of information.

  • S-PLUS

    Available to staff, faculty, and students. S-PLUS is the premier solution for exploratory data analysis and statistical modeling. With over 3,800 data analysis functions, including the most comprehensive set of robust and modern methods available anywhere, S-PLUS allows you to perform more insightful analysis, create revealing graphics and make more informed business decisions.

  • SPSS

    Available to faculty and staff. SPSS is an advanced statistical package for the Social Sciences. It is available for Windows and Mac.

  • Mathematica

    Mathematica is a computational software program used in scientific, engineering, financial, and mathematical fields and other areas of technical computing. It is available for Mac, WIndows, Linux/Unix/Solaris platforms.

  • Maple

    Maple is a powerful mathematical problem-solving and visualization system used worldwide in education, research, and industry. Whether you need to do quick calculations, develop design sheets, teach fundamental concepts, or produce sophisticated high-fidelity simulation models, Maple’s world-leading computation engine offers the breadth and depth to handle every type of mathematics.
