- The UBC Wireless network allows faculty, staff and students to connect to the internet on the UBC campus at high-speeds, 24/7, without plugging in cables.
- The system is built using the wireless ethernet standard Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b/g and in some areas, 11a. Wi-Fi cards are available for most notebook computers and handheld devices, and most new computers/PDAs come with a Wi-Fi card built in.
- Wireless internet provides expanded mobility and convenience.
- In tandem, a wireless connection and a laptop computer provide a truly mobile internet connection.
Who Can Use This?
- The wireless service is for all UBC faculty, staff and students (a Campus-Wide Login account is required to login).
- It also is available for guests or affiliates of faculty and staff members – all they need to do is get set up with a guest CWL account .
Technical Requirements
A computer with a
compatible Wi-Fi card and a CWL account is required.
