Resource Pools

One of the most important benefits of the virtualisation technology is its ability to pool resources. The virtual infrastructure combines a collection of different hardware resources into unified logical resource pools. These pooled resources can then be distributed across departments on an as-needed basis. This helps ensure that a department is not paying for more resources than it really needs. For example, if 10 blade servers, each with 16 GB of memory and 3 GHz of CPU speed, are pooled together, the combined resources will equal 160 GB of memory and 30 GHz of CPU speed.
