SSH stands for Secure Shell. It is a program that allows you to log into another computer over a network, to execute commands on a remote machine, and to move files from one machine to another. It provides strong authentication and secure communications over unsecure channels.
SSH is a text-only protocol, and is an upgrade to Telnet, a similar (but less secure) application. SSH is part of a Netinfo/Interchange account.
SSH Hostnames for Interchange and Netinfo are as follows:
- Interchange: interchange.ubc.ca
- Netinfo: netinfo.ubc.ca
