Why is the main menu all scrambled when I connect to Interchange/Netinfo through Telnet?
This is most likely from selecting the wrong terminal type. After logging in, you might see something like this: Your default terminal type is [ansi]. Press 'q' to quit, press to continue - any other key to change.
Press the space bar and it will ask you to enter in your Terminal Type. Type in vt100 and press Enter. This will temporarily set your Terminal Type to VT100 and so the menus should look unscrambled.
To permanently correct this problem:
- Go down to Account Status and press Enter.
- Press down to highlight Account Preferences and press Enter.
- Go down to Terminal type and press Enter.
- In the Terminal Type box, make sure that VT100 is selected.
- Then go down to Set and press Enter.
- This should permanently change your Terminal Type to vt100. The next time you log in, you can just press Enter when prompted for the Terminal Type and this should take you straight to the main menu which shouldn't be scrambled.
