You'll find open positions by navigating through the Job Postings page. You can also visit the general UBC HR Job Page and sign up for notifications of all UBC job postings. Our Facebook and Twitter accounts also announce open positions as they become available. Don't forget to check back often, as we are constantly adding new open positions.
Will I have opportunities for training and development after I am hired?
Absolutely. Continuous learning, both formal and informal, is a key component of each employee's career development. Can I apply for more than one job at the same time?
Yes, though we encourage you to review our many opportunities and apply to those that best fit your qualifications, experience, career aspirations, and overall focus of the position's home department.
Can I withdraw an application if I change my mind?
We encourage you to give careful thought to the position and determine if it is a match to what you're looking for before applying. However, we appreciate that things change, so yes, you may withdraw your application at any time by sending an email to ubcitHR@ubc.ca and include the Job ID as well as the Job Title and Department Name.
Will my application be treated confidentially?
Yes, we will treat your application with full respect and confidentiality. Your application will be reviewed by interview panel members and if your application demonstrates a good fit with the requisite skills and experience the hiring manager, or designate, will contact you for an interview. All applications are stored electronically in alignment with security and archival requirements. If you are not hired for a particular job, we may ask you if we can retain your personal information and contact you if an alternate, suitable position becomes available. We will only retain your CV if you give us permission to do so. If you are not contacted your application will be securely disposed of.
What's the best way to submit my application?
You can submit your application for any position by simply clicking on the "Apply Now" button on the bottom of each job posting. All applications must include a cover letter and resume.
Do you check references?
Yes. Following your interview we will request references. A minimum of three references, including your current or most recent manager, as applicable, is required. Please note that if you are a current UBC employee we will contact your manager to request a reference. You will be notified prior to us contacting them.
How will I be evaluated for a job at UBC IT?
We will carefully assess your application and experience related to the job for which you're applying against the requirements as listed on the job posting, current technology needs, and the overall focus and culture of the position's home department. Applications are shortlisted from the pool of all received applications.
