Support services are provided free of charge by UBC IT and any fees passed on to clients are on a cost-recovery basis where there are hard costs associated with delivering mySiteVPN.
Initial installation fees are quoted prior to service installation. The cost of the remote site VPN router, annual maintenance and out-of-band management costs are covered by UBC IT. While there is no ongoing charge for support services, backup emergency access to the site will be needed in order to ensure network availability.
Network connectivity to the remote site is provided over an Internet link and requires an external ISP. Clients are responsible for obtaining the local Internet link in addition to paying any installation and monthly charges associated thereof. There is no preference for ISP, however, the service must include static IP addresses so that VPN links may be established.
