Who Can Use This?

Anyone with a Netinfo or Interchange account can use SSH.

Technical Requirements

To use SSH with Netinfo/Interchange, you will need an Netinfo/Interchange account, an internet connection and Secure Shell (SSH) software.

If you are using Windows 95 or above, there are a number of programs currently available including Tera Term. The SSH website has the most commonly used SSH software available for download.

If you are using a Mac with Mac OS X (10.0 and higher), there is an SSH program included. Follow the steps below to connect via SSH:

  1. From the Finder application, click on the "Go" menu and choose "Applications".
  2. Open the "Utilities" folder and open the Terminal application.
  3. After the program opens, type in ssh interchange.ubc.ca at the text prompt.
  4. Once the connection is established, log in with your CWL username and password.

If you are using a Mac with Mac OS 9 or older, you must download an SSH application before you will be able to connect to the Netinfo/Interchange server. We recommend the free SSH program called MacSSH.
