To use SSH with Netinfo/Interchange, you will need an Netinfo/Interchange account, an internet connection and Secure Shell (SSH) software. If you are using Windows 95 or above, there are a number of programs currently available including Tera Term. The SSH website has the most commonly used SSH software available for download.
If you are using a Mac with Mac OS X (10.0 and higher), there is an SSH program included. Follow the steps below to connect via SSH:
- From the Finder application, click on the "Go" menu and choose "Applications".
- Open the "Utilities" folder and open the Terminal application.
- After the program opens, type in ssh interchange.ubc.ca at the text prompt.
- Once the connection is established, log in with your CWL username and password.
If you are using a Mac with Mac OS 9 or older, you must download an SSH application before you will be able to connect to the Netinfo/Interchange server. We recommend the free SSH program called MacSSH.
