Overview
The Klinck Data Centre will be decommissioned and shut down in 2014. UBC IT will be moving all production, development, and test virtual servers and data stores in two phases from the Klinck Data Centre to the new University Data Centre in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Building.
Purpose
Vendor support for the hardware used in the Klinck Data Centre will be ending by December 2013. Before support for the service ends, all production virtual servers and storage will need to be migrated. Migrations will take place between October and December, 2013 and may involve brief system interruptions for some enterprise services across campus. Development and test virtual servers and data stores will be moved in Phase 2 of the migration process.
Goals
- To migrate virtual servers and storage to the new University Data Centre housed in the Pharmaceutical Building
- The project team will contact service owners to decide on appropriate migration windows
- To ensure that service downtime is minimal and does not impact anyone
Timeline
