Overview
UBC IT is deploying an enterprise-wide video platform to provide a centralized and integrated platform for the delivery of video assets. The service is centrally hosted and managed by UBC IT.
Purpose
Staff, faculty, and researchers at UBC store their videos everywhere. The UBC Enterprise Video Platform (UBC Video Share) will provide a centralized video storage and delivery system that is secure, long-term, and easily accessible. The platform will also comply with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
Features
UBC Video Share will be publicly rolled out in Fall 2014 for non-academic videos. Users will be able to upload videos, record videos from a webcam, and view videos on multiple devices. The service will also offer the ability to publish public-facing videos in galleries, as well as share videos using a unique URL.
Goals
- Provide UBC with a sustainable and robust video share platform
- Reduce cost for stakeholders
- Provide tools for management and delivery of digital media assets
- Support the use of media for platforms including CMS, LMS, web and mobile devices
