Teaching Hospital Network Enhancements UBC IT and MedIT will be engaging in a network enhancement project on the Vancouver General Hospital campus. Network Infrastructure Upgrades As part of our ongoing capital lifecycling program, UBC IT is planning major upgrades to various parts of the network infrastructure which will provide increased capacity and higher performance for the campus. Sun, 10/01/2017
Workspace 2.0 UBC Workspace’s current software, Horizon Files, is reaching end of life support. UBC IT is upgrading the service to UBC Workspace 2.0 with its replacement software, Secure Content Locker, starting with a pilot launch in April 2015. Sat, 07/01/2017
Enterprise Administrative Systems Program (ASP) The Administrative Systems Program (ASP) has been established to begin the planning, development and release of custom-built and enterprise-level packaged software in order to meet campus information technology needs. Fri, 07/15/2016

UBC Enterprise Video Platform UBC IT is deploying an enterprise-wide video platform to provide a centralized and integrated platform for the delivery of video assets. The service will be centrally hosted and managed by UBC IT. Fri, 07/15/2016
UBC Voicemail Upgrade UBC IT has initiated a project to replace the University’s Octel voicemail system with Exchange 2010 Unified Messaging (UM). The new voicemail service will provide both UM accounts (which integrate email and voicemail) and traditional voice mailbox functionality. Fri, 07/15/2016
Privileged Access Manager (PAM) Privileged Access Manager (PAM) enterprise service will be implemented at UBC to create secure access to privileged accounts (root and system administrator accounts). Wed, 12/03/2014

UBC Mailing Lists UBC IT has initiated a project to evaluate a series of enterprise mailing list services in order to select a new solution to replace Majordomo and to satisfy the requirements from users across campus. Tue, 07/29/2014
Contact Centre Expansion Project The purpose of this project is to migrate five on-campus contact centers (Arts ISIT, Arts Academic Advising, Building Operations, Emergency Operations, Campus Security) from the existing infrastructure to the new contact center solution. Mon, 05/05/2014
UBC Workspace Service A UBC-hosted file sharing service that offers file sharing in a simple, secure and easy way, while meeting security policies of the UBC community and legislative requirements of the province. Mon, 03/10/2014
SharePoint Software Service UBC IT will be offering a Microsoft SharePoint software service, a web-based platform that provides a secure option for communication, collaboration, and document storage among teams and user communities. Mon, 01/20/2014
Contact Centre Product Evaluation UBC has decided to evaluate contact centre software products to replace the current service offering. Sun, 09/01/2013
myUBC Decommissioning Project On February 28, 2013, UBC IT will be decommissioning the my.ubc.ca web portal due to an aging infrastructure and lack of vendor support for a mobile version. The site will remain as a static link page, but students, faculty and staff will no longer be able to sign in with their CWL to access the myUBC applications. Thu, 03/14/2013
IT Service Management The IT Service Management Program (ITSM) at UBC is a series of projects and activities to implement select Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) principles and processes, as well as technologies to support service-oriented IT delivery. Fri, 03/01/2013
IT Transformation Project IT Transformation is intended to identify, develop and deploy new ways of delivering information services to the university community at large, such that unit delivery costs can be reduced, enablement of teaching and research is improved, operational risks are better mitigated and the environmental sustainability profile of UBC is improved. New University Data Centre (UDC) Completed in November 2012, the new Pharmaceutical Sciences Building contains the new University Data Centre (UDC). The UDC addresses the university-wide need of suitable space for housing computing infrastructure. Fri, 11/30/2012
Student Email The <strong>Netinfo/Interchange Email</strong> service is now <strong>end-of-life</strong>. The new mailboxes are be hosted on a new reliable and scalable infrastructure. The software platform is Microsoft Exchange 2010. The new mailbox comes with 1 GB of storage (versus Netinfo's 120 MB.) Mon, 10/15/2012
Intranet Project The UBC IT Intranet project's purpose is to improve productivity and effectiveness of communication and collaboration within the UBC IT department. It consists of building a new UBC intranet using SharePoint 2010 and developing associated branding and communications governance around the new platform ("shareIT") Fri, 07/01/2011
Communication, Collaboration and Information Sharing (CCIS) The outcome of the business requirements and application/tool selection process will be a set of recommendations which will include total cost of ownership for all applications and tools proposed; recommendations for governance and ownership for communication and content; any policy or practice changes; and a technology roadmap for collaboration tools. Strategic Planning The UBC IT Strategic Plan for 2011/2012 is now available for review. This plan was developed through a consultative process that assessed the priorities for UBC IT in order to establish the goals and objectives for the coming fiscal year. Sat, 01/01/2011
Titan/Atlas Titan is an initiative to implement a new Campus-Wide Budgeting tool. The project will develop a new system based on the new budget model for UBC and should be ready to use in time for FY11-12. The project will benefit the entire campus – both Vancouver and Okanagan – as it will provide a very flexible budgeting tool serving the purposes of both Central &amp; Departmental budgeting needs Mon, 11/01/2010
Virtual Desktop The Virtual Desktop technology will be based on VMWares View product, which was chosen in order to leverage UBC's significant investment in VMWare techologies, rather than developing a new technology base. WebCT Vista Upgrade Project Due to several educational and technology drivers, the UBC community required a more flexible Course Management system to handle increased course demand, user activity, infrastructure scalability and updated technologies for the changing Student/Instructor expectations.
